The Locomotive Maintenance - Electrical Repairer is a Maintenance of Equipment - Locomotive Department position of the Texas & Northern Railway Company of Transtar, Inc. The Locomotive Maintenance - Electrical Repairer is responsible for the inspection, repair, and maintenance of electrical components on diesel locomotives, road maintenance equipment, cranes, air compressors, and building and shop facilities and equipment. The position can expect to work indoors or outdoors in an industrial setting in all types of weather conditions.
Job Responsibilities:
Receives instructions regarding work to be done.
Determines materials and required tools.
Performs inspection utilizing meters, analyzed trouble areas and makes repairs as required.
Performs necessary electrical tests, removes, disassembles, replaces, repairs, modifies, rebuilds, assembles, adjusts, and maintains batteries and all electrical equipment or components on locomotives, road maintenance equipment, lighting circuits, crane circuits, air compressors, building and shop facilities, and equipment.
Perform incidental heating and burning.
Duties may also include working on railroad signal systems, which may require the ability to perform strenuous work using hand tools, (such as pick and shovel) in the construction, wiring and troubleshooting of railroad signal and crossing systems.
Training in other railroad departments is required.
Requirements:
Valid driver's license is required.
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
Trade school or formal electrical maintenance training required.
Locomotive electrical maintenance or other related work experience is required.
Locomotive diesel electrical training preferred.
Print reading experience preferred.
Troubleshooting experience preferred.
Computer skills preferred.
Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and on-call is required.
One year outdoor and industrial work experience is required.
Ability to climb is required.
Working at heights is required.
Performing manual labor and lifting in excess of 50 pounds is required.
