The Maintenance Supervisor, Freight Car position is an experienced, full-time, exempt salaried supervisory position of the Union Railroad Company. The position is responsible for the planning, organizing, and directing of car inspection, air brake testing, car classification, car maintenance and overhaul.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Recommend optimum work force size consistent with the demands of service.
Prioritize work and develops a work schedule for subordinates.
Prepares and arranges for distribution of all required reports.
Supervise personnel in accordance with labor agreement, company rules, and FRA regulations.
Ensure that repairs are made and inspections performed comply with AAR Rules and FRA Regulations.
Assist in preparation of Billing Repair Cards, work orders and other required documentation to facilitate the collection of revenues for services performed.
Administers company safety programs for all employees, recommends safety related improvements, performs safe job briefings daily and attends departmental safety meetings as required.
Maintain good working relationships with internal and external customers.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent GED) is required.
Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Logistics, Business Management, or Business Administration preferred.
Valid driver's license required.
5 years railroad or industrial mechanical experience required.
Knowledge of car repair billing required.
Supervisory experience required.
Working knowledge of railroad facilities and equipment required.
Knowledge of all aspects of maintenance including rolling stock maintenance, blueprints, and shop procedures required.
Knowledge of FRA, AAR, OSHA laws, rules, specifications and regulations governing building, maintenance, and interchange of railroad cars and locomotives is required.
Knowledge of Railinc, Express Yard CRB, Express Yard MMS, and RMI is required.
Computer proficiency required (MS Office Software).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must be willing and available to work shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed to accomplish job requirements.
Must be willing to work outdoors in inclement weather.
