Position : Business Development Manager
Salary : $140,000
Location : Glen Allen, Virginia
Job Summary :
The Business Development Manager is responsible for creating strategic business partnerships and driving new revenue sources for the organization. The BDM works closely with the CEO, upper management, office
managers, and proposal coordinator (et.al) to identify and maintain the business development pipeline,locate, and respond to RFPs, and participate in professional development organizations that further
our clients professional relationships and spread awareness.
Job Duties & Responsibilities :
1. Drive the companys strategic business development efforts.
2. Identify and vet potential contracts, teaming opportunities, new markets, and partnerships.
3. Be an advocate for InfraMaps services / SUE industry. Support and uphold standards of industry.
4. Establish and maintain positive relationships with clients and other stakeholders, including but not limited to local, state, and federal governments, as well as engineering clients.
5. Cultivate opportunities (when able) prior to publishing of RFPs, RFIs, or bids.
6. Responsible for project detection and maintaining RFP databases.
7. Business Marketing / Development Actions :
a. Attend conferences; participate in professional organizations.
b. Contribute to proposal development and submission.
c. Identify and coordinate resources or prequalification needs for proposals.
d. Give presentations to clients, potential clients or at professional events.
8. Perform competitor and SWOT analysis. Collect / document intelligence about customers,procurements, competition, and pricing.
9. Attend prequalification meetings and debriefings, review scoring.
10. Identify BD risks and develop avoidance or mitigation strategies.
11. Assist in contract administration and / or legal procurement issues.
12. Participate in the brainstorming of solid and effective technical, operational, management, personnel,
business and pricing strategies, approaches, and / or solutions.
Job Requirements : General
1. Strong understanding InfraMaps services and history
2. Familiarity with government contracting (federal, state, and local)
3. Basic proficiency in the CI / ASCE 38-22 Standard / willingness to learn.
4. Working knowledge of Excel, Word, PDF editor
5. Must have good communication skills (verbal and written), strong administrative and organizational
skills, as well as a high attention to detail and accuracy.
Physical
1. Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting / standing.
2. Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
3. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and / or fingers.
Work Environment
1. Office Environment
2. Travel as needed (some overnight)
Skills & Experience :
Minimum Qualifications
1. Professional Engineering licensure
2. 5 - 8 years experience in business development or executive sales, preferably in SUE, civil
engineering, or related field
3. Bachelors degree in engineering
4. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
5. Must have a valid drivers license and a clean driving record.
6. Must pass a security clearance / background check
- security sensitive positions only)
Valued but not required skills and experience :
1. Masters degree in related field (engineering / business / marketing / communications)
2. Familiarity with subsurface utility engineering
3. Proficiency in Salesforce or other RM
