Position Overview
My agriculture client is seeking a highly skilled Biosystems Engineer to lead facility operations and maintenance initiatives, driving performance, compliance, and strategic improvement in a manufacturing environment located in Knoxville, Tennessee. This role combines technical expertise, leadership, and business acumen to ensure optimal facility efficiency, safety, and reliability in an agriculture environment.
Key Responsibilities
Business & Operational Planning
- Develop and execute annual operational and maintenance plans, budgets, and staffing models aligned with company goals.
- Define and report on key facility metrics, such as uptime, maintenance costs, and compliance KPIs.
- Build business cases for facility enhancements and capital improvements.
Insights & Reporting
- Lead facility performance reporting and translate data into actionable insights.
- Present trends, asset performance, and cost analysis to stakeholders to drive informed decisions.
- Advise leadership on strategies and change management related to facilities management.
Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with internal departments, contractors, and vendors to ensure maintenance excellence.
- Act as the primary point of contact for facility inquiries and concerns.
- Align stakeholder needs with operational priorities and facility strategy.
Compliance & Safety
- Implement and enforce maintenance and safety policies in compliance with industry and regulatory standards.
- Oversee audits and inspections; proactively mitigate risk through continuous process improvement.
Leadership & Competencies
- Lead salaried and hourly staff: hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
- Apply strategic thinking, financial acumen, and process optimization to engineering and maintenance initiatives.
- Foster a collaborative culture that emphasizes integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Biosystems Engineering highly preferred; Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering considered.
- 5 years of relevant experience in facilities engineering or maintenance, ideally in agriculture or manufacturing.
- Ability to be on-site daily near Knoxville, Tennessee
- Expertise in facility systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, structural) and preventative maintenance.
- Skilled in data analysis, energy optimization, budgeting, and capital planning.
- Strong communication and leadership skills with experience guiding cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with HACCP, GMP, and safety standards in manufacturing.
- Proficiency in Excel and financial modeling; bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
Salary : $110,000 - $140,000
