JOB TITLE: Director of Accounting

JOB SUMMARY:
The Director of Accounting is responsible for overseeing the general ledger, financial reporting, and compliance functions to ensure accurate and timely financial statements for lenders and internal stakeholders. This role plays a key part in maintaining financial integrity, improving accounting processes, and ensuring adherence to regulatory and lending requirements. The ideal candidate is a strategic leader with strong technical accounting skills and experience in financial reporting, audit coordination, and lender compliance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Financial Reporting & Compliance:
• Oversee the preparation and accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and lender requirements.
• Ensure timely reporting to lenders, auditors, and regulatory agencies.
• Monitor compliance with debt covenants and reporting obligations.
• General Ledger & Month-End Close:
• Manage and oversee the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and adjustments.
• Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting.
• Lender Relations & Financial Analysis:
• Serve as the primary point of contact for lenders regarding financial statements and compliance matters.
• Prepare financial reports, loan compliance certificates, and debt covenant calculations.
• Provide financial insights and analysis to support decision-making.
• Internal Controls & Audit Coordination:
• Establish and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard financial integrity.
• Coordinate with external auditors and manage audit processes.
• Ensure adherence to company policies, GAAP, and regulatory requirements.
• Leadership & Team Development:
• Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with other departments, including finance, treasury, and operations, to align accounting processes with business goals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred).
7 years of accounting experience, including leadership roles.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and lender compliance.
Experience managing audits and financial statement preparation.
Proficiency in accounting systems and financial reporting tools.
Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
Familiarity with consolidations and intercompany eliminations.
NetSuite and Coupa experience a plus.
Knowledge of ASC 842 Lease Standard implementation.
Budgeting and forecasting experience.
Strong excel skills.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Requires normal, corrective vision range, the ability to see color and the ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols
Requires reporting for work on time and flexibility of schedule including changing hours or days off to accommodate month end reconciliations, staff shortages, vacations, call outs, etc.
Remembering details, using arithmetic, reading, examining & observing details
Work can be in an area which may be unusually hot, cold, noisy and smoke-filled environment
Performance of job duties will require standing, walking, lifting, reaching, pushing, pulling and grasping. These tasks include the maintenance and care of assigned area. Constant contact with fellow team members and guests
Ability to climb, bend, reach, pull up to 35 pounds, walk and stand for the duration of the shift
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Nevada Gaming Control Board Registration
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must be able to effectively communicate in English
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Proficient math skills required, and must be able to efficiently operate a calculator
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Must be proficient in Microsoft applications
