High-End Residential AV Lead Technician
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Residential AV Lead Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for installing, servicing, and troubleshooting high-end home automation systems, including distributed audio and video, home theater setups, networking, and structured cabling. As a lead technician, you will provide expertise, guidance, and leadership to team members while ensuring top-tier client service.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience integrating smart lighting, motorized window coverings, security systems, sensors, cameras, automation programming, keypads, touchscreens, and smart locks. This role involves direct client interaction, requiring professionalism, strong communication skills, and problem-solving abilities.
This is a physically active position that includes installing projection systems, audio systems, control and automation systems, internet-based music systems, and universal remote controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and service home automation systems (Control4, Crestron, Lutron, Savant).
- Work with networking systems, including WAN/LAN, switching/routing, WiFi, and network programming.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose AV, automation, and networking issues.
- Perform new construction and retrofit wire installation, including Cat/Coax/Fiber termination.
- Build and lace racks, configure surround sound systems, and integrate distributed audio/video systems.
- Install and configure Lutron Radio RA2, RA3, Homeworks, and full-shade solutions.
- Set up and program Araknis and Ruckus networks.
- Provide client training on installed systems.
- Lead projects and collaborate with other team members to complete installations efficiently.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor in all client interactions.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- 5 years of field experience in residential AV and home automation.
- Hands-on experience with Control4, Crestron, Lutron, or Savant programming.
- Strong knowledge of AV systems, home networking, lighting control, motorized shading, and automation.
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose system issues effectively.
- Experience with wire pulling, termination, and rack building.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in crawl spaces.
- Excellent attention to detail, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
- Punctual, professional, and team-oriented attitude.
Preferred:
- Certifications in Savant, Crestron, Lutron, CEDIA, or similar.
- Control4 PCNA Certification, Automation Programmer, or Level II Certification.
- Experience configuring Araknis and Ruckus network solutions.
Salary : $65,000 - $80,000
