Overview

The CT Technologist plays a critical role in the healthcare system, providing essential imaging services that assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This professional operates computed tomography (CT) scanners, performs diagnostic imaging procedures, and ensures patient safety throughout the imaging process. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and position patients for CT scans, ensuring comfort and safety.
  • Operate CT scanning equipment to capture high-quality images.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and guidelines to minimize radiation exposure.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and imaging documentation.
  • Review and evaluate images for technical quality before presenting to radiologists.
  • Provide clear instructions and explanations to patients about the procedure.
  • Obtain pertinent patient history and information to inform imaging protocols.
  • Collaborate with physicians and healthcare staff to determine imaging needs.
  • Calibrate and maintain CT equipment to ensure optimal functioning.
  • Administer contrast material as required and monitor patient reactions.
  • Educate patients on post-procedure care and any necessary follow-up.
  • Participate in continuous education and training to stay abreast of technological advancements.
  • Assist in developing and implementing best practices in imaging techniques.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities to uphold departmental standards.
  • Support other imaging modalities as needed and provide cross-functional assistance.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in radiologic technology or related field.
  • Certification in CT scanning (e.g., ARRT, NMTCB).
  • State licensure for radiologic technologists.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in CT imaging preferred.
  • Strong understanding of anatomy and physiology.
  • Knowledge of radiation safety practices and protocols.
  • Ability to handle medical imaging equipment proficiently.
  • Strong technical skills with imaging software and systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Compassionate patient care approach and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to collaborate.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including on-call shifts.
  • Commitment to continuing professional education and development.
  • Must-Haves

  • Graduate from school of Radiologic Technology approved by CAHEA / JRCT.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) certification with advanced certification in CT.
  • Rad Tech experience.
  • Nice-To-Haves

  • Level I trauma center experience.
  • Experience starting IVs.
  • Experience with Philips CT technology.
  • Experience with Epic EMR.
  • Experience with Visage PACS system.
