The Survey Technician plays a critical role in the surveying process, providing essential support to surveyors in both fieldwork and office settings. This position involves collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data related to land, structures, and terrain, ensuring accuracy and adherence to legal standards. Survey Technicians utilize specialized equipment and software to create precise maps and reports that inform construction projects, property assessments, and land development. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in field surveys for construction and land use projects.
  • Set up and operate surveying equipment like GPS and total stations.
  • Collect measurements and data related to land features.
  • Draft survey maps using CAD software.
  • Analyze survey data to prepare reports and presentations.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal surveying regulations.
  • Maintain and calibrate surveying instruments for accuracy.
  • Conduct boundary surveys and prepare relevant documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineers and architects for project input.
  • Perform site visits to evaluate conditions and gather data.
  • Assist in the preparation of legal descriptions for properties.
  • Provide technical support for surveying and geospatial projects.
  • Communicate findings with team members and stakeholders.
  • Manage project documentation, ensuring thorough record-keeping.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in surveying or related field.
  • Proven experience as a survey technician or in a similar role.
  • Familiarity with surveying equipment and techniques.
  • Proficient in CAD software and surveying applications.
  • Basic understanding of land surveying principles and practices.
  • Strong mathematical skills and ability to interpret data.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to work in various outdoor conditions.
  • Keen problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Team-oriented mindset with collaborative approach.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
  • Knowledge of zoning regulations and property law is a plus.
  • Certification as a Survey Technician (optional but beneficial).
  • Physical stamina for lifting and carrying equipment.
