We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Junior Security Analyst with 3-5 years of experience to assist in the monitoring, analysis, and management of our organization's security and patching processes. This role supports the identification and resolution of vulnerabilities, maintenance of endpoint protection, and execution of patch cycles to ensure the security and reliability of our systems and networks.
Key Responsibilities :
As a Junior Security and Patch Management Analyst, your responsibilities will encompass a broad range of tasks focused on enhancing the organization's security posture, managing patching processes, and providing desktop support when needed. Your specific duties will include :
- Security Monitoring & Incident Response : Continuously monitor security logs across various systems and applications to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities. You will be responsible for identifying actionable items, escalating critical issues to senior analysts, and working to resolve less complex incidents under their guidance. Respond to security incidents, providing detailed documentation and contributing to incident investigations.
- Patch Management & Vulnerability Remediation : Play a key role in the patch management process by assisting in the identification, testing, and deployment of patches for operating systems, applications, and security software across the enterprise. You will help coordinate patch cycles, ensuring systems are updated in a timely manner and that all vulnerabilities are mitigated. Monitor for missing patches, prioritize according to severity, and collaborate with IT and other dpartments to resolve unpatched vulnerabilities. Track the progress of patch deployments and verify that patches are successfully applied without causing disruptions to business operations.
- Endpoint Security Management : Assist in managing and maintaining endpoint security solutions, including antivirus software, firewalls, and endpoint detection and response (EDR) systems. Ensure endpoint security agents are up to date and functioning correctly, and assist with troubleshooting any issues related to endpoint protection.
- Desktop Support : Provide technical support to end users, addressing issues related to software, hardware, and system access. This may include troubleshooting system errors, resolving application issues, managing user accounts, and offering support for network connectivity. You will also assist in setting up new devices, ensuring they are configured securely and in line with company policies.
- System Auditing & Compliance : Conduct regular audits on network control devices and user access to ensure compliance with security policies and industry best practices. Review and verify log retention settings, ensuring integrity and proper storage of logs for security monitoring and auditing purposes. You will also assist in managing and maintaining blocklists, allow lists, and exclusions to protect against unauthorized access.
- Vulnerability Scanning & Reporting : Perform scheduled vulnerability scans on networked systems, servers, and applications to identify security weaknesses. Analyze scan results, categorize vulnerabilities based on severity, and assist in developing remediation action plans. You will generate reports summarizing vulnerabilities and thestatus of remediation efforts, providing visibility into the effectiveness of security measures.
- Software and Hardware Maintenance : Help maintain and manage software and hardware inventories, identifying outdated or unsupported software that may pose security risks. Assist in updating or replacing outdated systems and applications, ensuring all software is compliant with security standards. You will collaborate with IT teams to address hardware issues and ensure all workstations are properly configured and secure.
- Collaboration & Continuous Improvement : Work closely with senior analysts, IT teams, and other departments to continuously improve the organization's security posture. Provide insights into security trends, assist with refining security policies and procedures, and recommend improvements to enhance protection against emerging threats. In this role, you will balance security responsibilities with desktop support duties, ensuring both systems and end-users remain secure and well-supported. This will require flexibility, strong technical knowledge, and an eagerness to learn as you take on a variety of tasks to improve the organization's security and IT infrastructure.
