Job Summary :
Recycle Waste Services (RWS) is hiring a Gravel Train Driver to operate a tractor-trailer combination to transport and deliver non-hazardous biosolids, and glass, using gravel trains. This job requires a Current Class A Commercial Drivers' License with doubles endorsement. Gravel Train experience is a plus, but we will train. This position is a safety sensitive position, the employee has the responsibility for his / her own safety as well as the safety of others.
Duties :
- Serve as a company advocate and ambassador in every interaction with clients and the public.
- Conduct daily inspections (Pre and Post trip inspections)
- Comply with all DOT, state, local and company regulations, procedures, and rules.
- Always operate Tractor / Trailer in a safe manner.
- Perform loading, unloading, and timely delivery material to destination.
- Maintain a clean Tractor / Trailer. Clean off material as needed. Do not travel on the roadway with the product on equipment.
- Accurately filling out paperwork, including : daily trip reports, vehicle condition reports and customer work order tickets
- Operates vehicle in accordance with RWS safety and OSHA (Occupational and Safety Health Act) and DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements as well as all local, state and federal laws.
- Attends and participates in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required by RWS or directed by the Operations Manager.
- Works closely with Site Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
- Notifies Chain of Command of any incidents, accidents, injures, or property damage. (General Manager, Site Manager, Safety Manager, & HR Manager)
- Notifies Site Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions, including closed lots, streets, alleyways or potential safety hazards.
- Communicates customer requests to Dispatch or Site Manager
- Other duties as assigned
- Minimum HS Diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Current Class A CDL, with 2 years' experience
- Current Medical Card
- Must have Doubles Endorsement
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen
- Must have Clean Driving Record
- Experience with Roll Off, Gravel Trains & Walking Floor trailers (HIGHLY PREFERRED)
- Ability to read and understand a map / GPS
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the job
- Ability to drive truck with a manual and automatic transmissions
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
- Waste industry experience, a plus
- Ability to backup tractor trailer or equipment
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, and clients.
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work overtime hours, and / or weekend.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions.
- Ability to operate tractor / trailer or equipment in a safe manner.
