Plant Operations Technician / General Labor

Recycle Radford is hiring Plant Operations, for its operation in Radford, VA. We are looking for a few talented individuals to help start our new recycling location in Radford, VA.

Tasks include:

• Assist with construction, installation and start up of new business
• Operation and maintenance of metal processing equipment
• Operation of forklifts, skid steers, manlifts, loaders and other small equipment
• Assist with installation, repairs, and maintenance of equipment
• Recordkeeping and sampling of products
• Loading, unloading, and sorting scrap metal
• Provide backup or assistance throughout the yard as needed or assigned.
• General clean up and yard maintenance including but not limited to digging, sweeping, mowing and maintenance of weeds and brush
• General Labor as required

Skills Desired

• Industrial Maintenance experience preferred
• Basic knowledge of one or more of the following maintenance disciplines: AC/DC motors, gearbox maintenance, lubrication principles, welding, cutting torch, fabrication, NFPA 70E, and common maintenance hand tools.
• Operation and maintenance of forklifts and other mobile equipment
• Experience with conveyors, balers, and other recycling equipment
• Basic computer and math skills.
• Welding experience is a plus

Qualifications

• Ability to: lift and carry up to 75 pounds occasionally; crouch or bend at the knees frequently when sorting or picking to increase visibility; climbing to reach work site occasionally; stoop or bend at the waist frequently to increase visibility; reach at arms length frequently or overhead frequently; twist and turn at the neck and trunk frequently; walk frequently on uneven ground; handle and grasp materials and tools continually; push and pull frequently when sweeping or cleaning; communicate by speech and hearing continually. Visual acuity needed for close detail work.
• Candidates must be willing to work overtime as needed (50-60 Hrs a week)

Pay & Benefits

• Maintenance and operations positions start at $18 an hour.
• 45-55 hour Schedule. OT available.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 50 – 55 per week
