Recycle WV is hiring a Transportation Manager for its operations based in Princeton WV.
Position Overview
· Manage growing fleet of 30 trucks and drivers.
· Scheduling drivers, determining equipment requirements and resolving driver, supplier and service issues.
· Develop and implement strategies for least cost routing and route optimization.
· Review driver performance on a weekly basis in order to provide feedback and improve performance.
· Source qualified haulers for each location requiring 3rd Party to meet operational requirements.
· Negotiate rates with 3rd Party haulers for both internal, supplier and consumer trips.
· Review 3rd Party Freight haulers effectiveness by analyzing cost and performance data with internal and other vendors.
· Review, analyze and communicate freight costs, light loads, overweight loads and driver performance to respective yards, the commercial team and management.
· Ensure that maximum load weights are attained and proper equipment is utilized at each location.
· Manage freight payment terms, update and maintain alternate freight database tables if required and ensure that invoices are reviewed for accuracy.
· Coordinate freight with Commercial Team so that backhauls and other synergies between inbound and outbound freight are maximized.
· Look for opportunities to utilize all resources across the groups by understanding equipment, scheduling and other resource management so that dead freight is minimized.
Qualifications
· Minimum of three years’ experience in the development, administration and management of a high volume transportation/trucking organization.
· Bachelor degree preferred (logistics, business, or related field).
· Understanding of DOT, State, and Local regulations, and the ability to successfully apply and communicate these regulations.
· Strong safety mindset and proven record of safety improvements.
· Minimum of two years’ experience managing and supervising people.
· Ability to organize and administer a complex transportation program at multiple locations, including contracted services.
· Experience in recycling, waste or heavy hauling environment preferred.
· Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel; experience with computer-aided dispatch systems preferred.
· Six Sigma or other analytical experience desirable.
