The Recycled Materials Association (ReMA) is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented International Trade Policy Analyst (ITPA) to support our trade policy efforts. This role will focus on analyzing trade regulations, tariffs, export controls and other initiatives to support our members navigating compliance challenges. The ITPA will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to advocate for fair and sustainable trade policies that impact the Recycled Materials Industry. 

 

The ideal candidate has 2-5 years of comparable experience and has developed some expertise in international trade laws and regulations. This role also requires strong analytical skills, and a commitment to advancing the interests of the recycled materials sector. 

 

We offer a hybrid work model that allows you to balance working from home up to three days a week, while engaging in-office collaboration at least two days per week. 

 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Monitors and analyzes trade policy developments and regulatory initiatives that affect the recycled materials industry.
  • Assists industry stakeholders in developing compliance strategies to mitigate exposure and optimize trade opportunities. 
  • Develops and maintains trade databases, analyzes economic trends and assesses policy impacts on the industry.
  • Supports ReMA’s trade advocacy initiatives by preparing policy briefs economic impact analyses and industry position papers. 
  • Prepares presentations advocacy materials, and trade updates for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assists in organizing and conducting educational sessions on trade policy topics for members and industry partners. 
  • Assists in drafting testimony, comments on regulations, letters to Congress, and other correspondence related to trade policy actions.
  • Supports senior policy staff with engagement of and building of relationships with congressional offices, federal agencies, and industry coalitions. 
  • Works within the Advocacy team to engage with Federal Agencies, policy makers and coalitions on trade-related issues.
  • Represents ReMA at relevant industry forums, hearings and stakeholder meetings.

Preferred Qualifications and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2-5 years of relevant work experience with the recycled materials industry, government, public policy, government relations, or other related field. 
  • Broad knowledge of international trade policy, environmental regulation, or sustainability issues is preferred. 
  • Familiarity with grassroots advocacy and coalition building. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable delivering presentations to both small and large audiences upon request.
  • Should have strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with policymakers, staff, and external organizations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously, ability to work under deadline pressure, and adapt to changes in workload. 
  • Ability to work in a politically neutral manner and maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive information when required.

 

Working Conditions

  • Salary range for this position is between $70k - $85k. 
  • Some travel will be required (15-25%) to attend annual meetings and other events.
  • This position operates in a professional office environment. It requires the routine use of standard office equipment, including computers, phones, and printers.
  • The role may occasionally involve extended periods of sitting or standing and minor physical tasks such as lifting objects up to forty pounds.
