What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Software Engineer (TS/SCI with Poly Required) position at Red Alpha?
A day in the life:
As a Junior Software Engineer, you will support a mission critical program leveraging open-source technologies, AWS cloud compute, services and infrastructure and machine-learning to automate tasks and provide insight for the Department of Defense. You will join a team of like-minded professionals who are passionate about innovation and growing mission-related software capabilities while having the opportunity to work with new tech. Your efforts will provide immediate impact to this growing team as this role will play a critical part in the success of this program.
In this particular role, you will work with enterprise web applications in a commercial Cloud infrastructure and development environment. You will have exposure to the full stack of technologies required to design, develop, manage and monitor front-end visualizations, the application layer and services, as well as data repositories.
What you bring to the table:
- 3 years minimum experience in a similar work environment using the described technologies below. Any combination of the following acceptable criteria will be considered for work experience equivalence: Professional work experience history; Relevant technical certifications; Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related field in technical/scientific discipline; Graduate degree in a related field or discipline; Doctorate in a related field or discipline
- An active US Government TS/SCI security clearance with a Polygraph
- Experience with Web application and Services development using industry standard application layer services such as Spring Framework, Node.js, etc.
- Experience with the design and development of web-based interfaces and related components - e.g. Node.js, Angular, other JS Frameworks and libraries, etc.
- Experience with Scripting and/or OOPs languages - Python, Java, etc.
- Familiarity with industry best practices for Agile software development, automated testing, and continuous integration
Bonus Skills:
- Included here are any skills that are "nice to have" but not required. Skills here may also include those that are subjectively assessed, such as behaviors.
- AWS Cloud development and infrastructure management
- DevOps strategies - e.g. Software development build automation, CI/CD pipelines, etc.
- Relational Database programming experience - structured and unstructured queries
- Development and consumption of micro-services - e.g. Spring Boot, Appmesh, Convoy, etc.
- Programming experience using Public Key Infrastructure security authentication

Salary Range:
- Disclosed pay ranges are a general guideline, and are not a guarantee of a final salary or compensation. Our approach in determining final salaries takes into consideration a number of factors such as education, certifications, total years of relevant professional experience, actual level of expertise, and the responsibilities of the role itself.
- Based on the outlined roles, responsibilities, and requirements, the projected pay range for this position is: $100,000 - $175,000
