SUMMARY
The Life Enrichment Director is responsible for the on-site organizing, planning, facilitating and directing the overall operations of the Activities department in accordance with current standards, guidelines and regulations, company policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the Executive Director to assure that an on-going program activities is designed to meet, in accordance with the assessment, the interests and the physical, mental, and psychological well-being of each resident. The Life enrichment Director is also responsible for developing wellness programs for families to meet their identified needs and conducting staff in-services. Hire, evaluate, coordinate, monitor performance, and supervisor department staff in accordance with company policy.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Primary responsibility is to provide a creative social atmosphere throughout the community and promote resident and family participation through regularly scheduled events, activities, special programs and guest speakers, movie showings, exercise sessions.
2. Coordinate and attend all special functions and activity programs for major Holidays.
3. Ensure activities and events acknowledge and meet the cultural, religious, and ethnic diversity and interests of the residents and their families.
4. Personally meet with each new resident with thirty (30) days of move-in to learn more about them and their individual attributes, abilities, background, interests, preferences, etc.
5. Develop programs, activities, seminars and lectures for the monthly calendar. Print, mail and post the activities calendars in order to keep all residents and the community aware of the activities going on at the community. Edit and publish the monthly newsletter. Distribute and mail to all residents, prospective resident, family members, community contacts, and employees to keep them informed of things going on in the community.
6. Drive residents to planned events, activities, or appointments using the community van when needed.
7. At the direction of the Executive Director, work with consultants and other outside resources to provide a well-balanced program for the residents.
8. Innovate, plan, promotes and supervise all activities, entertainment, transportation programs that meet the minimum standards of the community and accommodate the broad spectrum of individual and collective interest, attributes, and abilities of the residents. Monitor shifts in preferences, values and attitudes using personal interviews, approved surveys, resident committees, suggestion boxes, etc., to augment personal observation.
9. Recruit, train, retain and supervise a full complement of volunteers and staff who are capable and motivated to devote their best efforts to the discharge of the responsibilities contained in their job descriptions and who present a professional demeanor to residents and prospective residents.
10. Ensure accurate record-keeping of all records related to planning, supervisions and implementation of activities and entertainment for residents of the community and prospective residents to the community and ensure the complete communication thereof to the management of the community as may be requested from time-to-time.
11. Ensure efficient and effective use of all activities/social services department and community resources, human resources and monetary resources with established budgetary guidelines.
12. Hire, evaluate, coordinate, motivate, monitor performance, schedule, and personally supervise department staff in accordance with company policy and state law. Make recommendations to the Executive Director with respect to staff evaluations, merit pay increases, reprimands, disciplinary actions, and termination.
13. Prepare an annual budget request for needed supplies, equipment, and personnel requirements. Ensure monthly purchases and staffing patterns are in accordance with the approved budget.
14. Participate in daily “Stand-Up” meetings to communicate key issues within the department.
15. Obtain and maintain all state required certifications/licensures.
16. Aid in community marketing effort through demonstrated proficiency and willingness to conduct community tours, participation in all required marketing events and through positive/friendly interaction with all potential residents, family members and referral sources.
17. Arrange for coverage of job duties within the department during employee absences either through delegation or personal completion of duties.
18. Display tact and friendliness when dealing with residents, families and visitors.
19. Maintain a safe and secure environment for all staff, residents, and quests, following established safety standards.
20. Encourage teamwork through cooperative interactions with co-workers and other departments.
21. Support a positive and professional image through actions and dress.
22. Performs other duties consistent with the position as assigned by the Executive Director.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be at least 21 years of age due to driving requirements and carrier’s restrictions.
- College Degree preferred or be enrolled in an appropriate education or training program.
- Minimum of one (1) year in conducting group activities and be knowledgeable in evaluating residents’ needs, supervising other employees and in training volunteers.
- Previous experience will be evaluated as needed.
- Employee must pass a criminal record clearance and drug screen prior to beginning work in the community.
Hours vary depending on needs of the department, could include nights and weekends
