Red Cedar is looking for a Vice President of Finance to join our team. The VP of finance will be a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for providing strategic financial guidance and oversight for Red Cedar Homes, as well as for the various vertically integrated companies that live within the Red Cedar portfolio. This role requires a seasoned finance professional with deep expertise in financial management, forecasting, budgeting, and investment analysis, coupled with a strong understanding of the unique dynamics of land acquisition, land development, and the homebuilding market.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the financial strategy to support the company’s growth objectives and operational goals.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to establish overall company direction, priorities, and budgets.
  • Manage the daily financial operations for Red Cedar.
  • Build out and lead the annual budgeting process, monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts.
  • Responsible for preparing comprehensive and accurate financial statements.
  • Prepare and present timely financial reports and forecasts to the executive team.
  • Analyze financial results and trends to identify opportunities for cost savings and improved profitability.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly financial statements, reports, and metrics to ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the company’s cash flow and liquidity positions, ensuring sufficient resources for ongoing operations and strategic initiatives.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize cash flow through effective working capital management.
  • Assess financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate potential impact on the organization.
  • Ensure appropriate insurance and risk management policies are in place to protect company assets.
  • Oversee all aspects of capital planning, including financing, investment strategies, and returns analysis related to land acquisitions, development projects, and home construction.
  • Evaluate potential investment opportunities and provide recommendations to the executive team.
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing finance team, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Foster collaboration across departments to achieve financial and operational goals effectively.
  • Delegate work according to employee’s abilities and skillset.
  • Provide continuous coaching and mentorship.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintain strong relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory authorities.


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree or MBA highly preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience in the homebuilding, land development, or real estate industry.
  • Proven experience in financial planning and analysis, budget management, and cash flow analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial regulations, and reporting requirements specific to the homebuilding and development industry.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in financial software and tools, with advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP systems preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing procedures and process that move the business forward.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and manage long-term projects.


Schedule:

  • Monday-Friday, standard daytime hours; 8:00 am – 5:00 pm


Job Type:

  • Full-time position, averaging 40 hours per week


Compensation:

  • $150,000 - $200,000 annually
  • Bonus potential

  • Office-based environment with a business casual dress code. Standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets, are used in this role.
