THIS IS A REGULAR FULL-TIME NON-EXEMPT POSITION
JOBSUMMARY: Assist with strategic plan for Red Cliff regarding the future direction of tribal education, focusing on K-12, post-secondary and community education. Components of the plan must include multi-year goals and objectives. Maintain overall responsibility for administration of education related Bureau of Indian Affairs contracts, including but not limited to Higher Education, Johnson O’Malley (JOM), and community education programming.
DUTIESANDRESPONSIBILITIES:- Develop and administer an annual educational needs assessment to obtain input from the community as an integral part of strategic planning for education for the Red Cliff tribe.
- Engage the Tribal Board of Education, JOM Committee, and other stakeholders in the Red Cliff community. Develop short- and long-term goals, objectives, and an action plan which aligns with tribal priorities.
- Administer education and related contracts, including BIA funded Higher Education, Job Training, Job Placement, Johnson O’Malley, and other educational funding sources.
- Assist current and potential college/vocational students of all ages with locating possible grants and scholarships. Seek additional educational resources for students and the Education Department.
- Collaborate with the Red Cliff Early Childhood Center, Bayfield School, and other educational entities.
- Serve as an advocate for Red Cliff students attending Bayfield School and other educational entities.
- Maintain relationships with post-secondary educational institutions and their representatives.
- Network with other Tribal Education Directors, especially with other tribes in Wisconsin.
- Prepare and submit quarterly reports to include progress in meeting identified strategic goals, objectives, and activities during the previous quarter. Prepare and submit additional reports such as Government Performance and Results Act (GPRA) as required by funding agencies.
- Be respectful and responsive to the educational needs of the community.
- Attending meetings and training sessions as directed.
- Must have strong computer skills including excel.
- Must submit to criminal background check and maintain confidentiality.

- Knowledge and/or experience with P.L.93-638 contracts preferred.
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree required.
- Prior work experience in the education or administration field is required.
- Must have demonstrated leadership skills.
- Must have excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Must be committed to enhancing Indigenous education through formal and informal means.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, vehicle and appropriate vehicle coverage. Must maintain driver’s eligibility as a condition of employment.
PERSONAL CONTACTS: Person will have daily contact with Tribal Department and Program staff along with vendors.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Position is mainly sitting with some walking, stooping, and bending required. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The Tribal Education Office is a smoke-free building.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Person will be required to attend trainings or meeting locally or out of the area.
