THIS IS A REGULAR FULL-TIME EXEMPT POSITION
JOB SUMMARY: The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will provide comprehensive acute and chronic health and mental health care to individuals and families across the lifespan. Provide psychiatric evaluation, diagnostic assessments, medication management for patients with mental health and substance abuse issues. Comply with State of Wisconsin regulations and standards of care within the organizational structure of the Red Cliff Community Health Center.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic mental illness in children, adolescent, and adult patients.
2. Provides supportive therapy, counseling and guidance to individuals, families, and groups.
3. Provide services to all individuals, for general wellbeing.
4. Conducts history and physical examination of patients, assesses physical condition, and orders various tests (e.g., laboratory, neurological, and psychological tests).
5. Work as a team member in an integrated setting by collaborating with other providers and staff to provide holistic care.
6. Design/participate in the development of individualized treatment plans, incorporating best and leading practices into treatment interventions.
7. Prescribes medications according to medical indication and necessity and in accordance with RCCHC policies and procedures.
8. Consult with physicians on cases that are beyond the scope of qualification.
9. Ensure smooth communication with other health professionals for effective delivery services to patients.
10. Provide consultation to the clinic’s nursing and medical staff to enhance overall quality of care.
11. Make health care decisions based on currently accepted medical and nursing science and the patient’s particular situational, family and cultural determinants.
12. Actively participate in clinic education, training, and in-services to confirm understanding of new information or changes to established clinical policies and procedures
13. Documents patient care activities and maintain patient medical records in accordance
with clinic policy, sound professional practice and state and federal laws.

SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY: None
KNOWLEDGE:
1. Experience in delivering high-quality, client-centered and trauma-informed care.
2. Able to document and navigate EHR independently.
3. Ability to maintain strict client confidentiality.
4. Ability to effectively communicate and interact with individuals involved in all aspects of programming – children, parents, school faculty and staff, grantors, funders, partner agencies, members of the community.
5. Proficient computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
6. Ability to work effectively on a multidisciplinary team.
7. Must possess ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
8. Knowledge of and sensitivity for Ojibwa culture and traditions
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Master's degree and/or Advanced Practice Nursing certification (CFNP, APRN, etc.) or equivalent; four to ten years related experience and/or training.
2. Current Wisconsin Licensure and Certification
3. Minimum 2 years; experience
4. Experience working within the Red Cliff Community is highly preferred, or within a Native Community is preferred.
5. Must have a valid driver’s license, vehicle and appropriate vehicle coverage and maintain driver’s eligibility as a condition of employment. Be eligible to be put on the tribe’s vehicle insurance policy.
PERSONAL CONTACTS: Considerable daily contact will be made with the patients, general public, tribal leadership, Program Directors and staff, consultant (s), and the Tribal Community
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The duties assigned to this position involve bending, stooping, lifting, and carrying. Items may be placed in overhead storage or shelving.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: All Tribal Buildings are smoke free.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: The ability to travel and attend meetings and trainings; overnight and out of town, both locally & nationally.
