About the role :
As a Planner I you are the support system within Topology. You will be responsible for supporting Planner II and III and Principals to maintain client satisfaction. Planner I roles work through our planning processes on tasks such as drafting documents, planning reports, summaries of planning documents and zoning ordinances, legal research, application filing, mapping, testimony drafting and hearing preparation. Planner I is responsible for producing maps, creating PowerPoint presentations, conducting research, and drafting template setups for reports. You will experience a variety of project types, gain knowledge of different codes and variances, and become familiar with project precedents and specifics that are key Topology projects.
You will be responsible for managing your time and schedule, creating quality work product, collaborating with senior leadership and working to meet business deadlines. During your time as a Planner I you will learn project management skills as well as Topology systems for executing high quality work. You will have opportunities for learning and develop and will be exposed to higher level planning work. You will actively participate in and contribute to the Topology culture and brand. You will be expected to attain your AICP and PP certifications as you advance through the organization.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience :
- A Bachelor's degree in Planning, Public Policy, Urban Studies, Economics, Political Science, Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- 1- 3 Years of experience in planning and zoning
- Ability to handle complex, political and sensitive situations
- Knowledge of and ability to navigate Microsoft Office products
- Excellent time management, organizational skills, and technical writing skills.
- Proven ability to meet hard deadlines
- Knowledge of zoning codes, planning laws and regulations
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Able to get to and from sites reliably
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator and InDesign, but not required.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret land use maps.
- Knowledge of and ability to navigate ArcGIS or QGIS
- Data analysis
