This position's primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting in all major period-end closing activities and preparing monthly financial statements. Analyze and prepare monthly reconciliations for various balance sheet accounts to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures. The role will include supporting the Finance department in a variety of projects from start to finish to ensure compliance and accuracy. Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Reconcile various general ledger accounts, ensuring all discrepancies are resolved timely
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Assist with audit processes, including preperation of audit schedules and responding to audit inquiries
- Ensure adherence to GAAP and company accounting policies
- Analyze financial data and provide variance explanations
- Maintain and update month-end close checklists and calendars
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies
- Prepare account reconciliations and supporting documentation
- Prepare and maintain accruals and prepaid schedules
- Collaborate with other departments to gather and review financial information
- Participate in special projects and assist with system implementation as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferably in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- CPA or CMA certification preferred
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in general ledger accounting, with a focus on month-end close, ideally in a service-oriented industry
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
- Proficiency in accounting software (Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel) - Experience with Lawson & AS400 is a plus.
