What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elementary Reading Coach/Interventionist position at Red Cross Elementary School?
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: The Reading Coach/Interventionist will be a certified school teacher with primary teaching experience and holding, at minimum, a Rank II / Masters Degree. The successful candidate will possess a demonstrated capacity for training others with the Science of Reading practices, utilizing a variety of instructional strategies and other “tools” to build the program consistent with the Kentucky Academic Standards; is respected by colleagues as knowledgeable and helpful; and is available to implement a work calendar that involves extra duties as assigned by the school principal. The Reading Coach/Interventionist should be consistently available to the teachers of the school for training, demonstrations, development, and planning. The Reading Coach/Interventionist will be knowledgeable in reform initiatives, curriculum, pedagogy, assessment, the Science of Reading effective teaching practices, and trained in LETRS.
WILL SUPPORT BARREN COUNTY ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS BY:
- Be assigned to instructional and school duties assigned by the school principal.
- Work in collaboration with school building teachers, building principals, colleagues across the district, and other resource personnel.
- Provide leadership in the development, coordination, and implementation of the elementary literacy curriculum.
- Provide leadership and model effective instructional practices.
- Coordinate teacher involvement in the development of curricula aligned to the Kentucky education standards.
- Collaborate with and assist teachers and other administrators in the implementation of the curriculum.
- Develop and lead assessment tools for the improvement of student achievement.
- Participate in professional organizations; attend professional conferences; remain educated on current curriculum development initiatives in all disciplines with the approval of the school principal.
- Plan and conduct in-service professional learning activities for teachers.
- Maintain effective public communication
- Delivering direct training based on the specific and identified needs of the staff and the CSIP
- Providing follow-up and technical assistance/consultation at the building level and across schools, with emphasis on appropriate classroom practices
- Facilitating the implementation of district and individual school curriculum-related initiatives
- Working closely with the building principals to determine the scope of work as it applies to each individual school
- Perform all other duties assigned by the principal.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist classroom teachers in implementing new teaching strategies
- Assist with state and other assessment strategies
- Provide classroom demonstration lessons relating to appropriate methods of assessment, reporting, curriculum, and pedagogy.
- Assist the school with the CSIP and the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders
- Attend meetings and conferences as necessary to accomplish duties
- Provide professional learning opportunities as needed
- Must be knowledgeable of state and district assessment strategies
- Oversee the literacy MTSS process and provide interventions in literacy
- Must be knowledgeable of the literacy KY Academic Standards strands.
- Other duties that may be assigned by the school principal.
