A. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Collection Manager is responsible for overseeing the administration and operations of the Collection Department, ensuring effective management of staff and safeguarding the credit union's assets. This includes managing delinquent accounts, handling repossessed collateral, and supervising the collection team. The role also involves recruitment, scheduling, training, and performance monitoring of collectors and the Insurance Tracking Clerk.
- Hire, train, schedule, and supervise collection personnel, conduct performance evaluations, allocate resources to meet departmental needs, review and make decisions on collection recommendations from team members.
- Manage communication with delinquent accounts via phone and mail, taking appropriate steps to resolve outstanding balances.
- Oversee the sales of repossessed collateral and assess any additional investments needed in the collateral.
- Work closely with the auction, repossession agents and attorneys regarding collection efforts.
- Analyze the financial status of delinquent borrowers and take necessary actions, including repossession, when loan arrangements cannot be made current.
- Provide testimony at legal proceedings as needed.
- Keep management informed of trends in loan underwriting that may contribute to delinquent or charged-off loans.
- Input member delinquency information into the collection system daily.
- Prepare delinquent loan reports and participate in monthly meetings with the Delinquent Loan Committee.
- Train collection staff on key job functions; provide quarterly performance reviews and document observations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
B. Qualifications:
- High school diploma required, with 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in collections for a financial institution or a related field.
- Familiarity with applicable regulatory collection requirements and credit union policies and procedures.
- Strong ability to motivate and influence others; requires a high level of diplomacy and trust.
- Effective at obtaining cooperation both internally and externally.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
