Job Summary
The Outside Sales Representative will be responsible for identifying, pursuing, and securing new business opportunities within the construction industry. This role requires an individual with strong networking skills, an understanding of construction services, and the ability to build and maintain client relationships. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in sales, preferably within the construction or related industries. Key Responsibilities
- Lead Generation & Prospecting:
- Identify and target potential clients, including homeowners, businesses, developers, property managers, and general contractors.
- Research and develop sales strategies to expand the company’s client base.
- Build a robust network by attending industry networking events, trade shows, business networking groups, and community meetings.
- Establish long-term relationships by positioning the company as a trusted partner in construction services.
- Client Relationship Management:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients.
- Understand client needs, project requirements, and budget constraints to offer tailored solutions.
- Provide excellent customer service and follow up on leads to convert prospects into clients.
- Provide a professional appearance and maintain professional communication in all interactions both internally and externally.
- Sales & Business Development:
- Proactively reach out to potential clients through cold calls, emails, and visits to targeted businesses.
- Negotiate contracts and close sales deals in alignment with company goals and profit margins.
- Develop strategic partnerships with architects, engineers, suppliers, and other industry professionals to expand lead sources.
- Maintain an active presence in local business associations and chambers of commerce to increase brand awareness.
- Prepare and deliver compelling presentations to clients and management to effectively communicate proposals and sales strategies.
- Meet or exceed sales targets and revenue goals.
- Market & Competitor Analysis:
- Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging construction technologies.
- Provide feedback to management regarding market conditions and potential growth opportunities.
- Administrative & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of sales activities, client interactions, and contract negotiations.
- Prepare regular sales reports and forecasts for management.
- Utilize CRM software to track leads, follow-ups, and customer interactions.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in outside sales, preferably in the construction industry.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales quotas.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and industry regulations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong problem-solving skills and a results-oriented mindset.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Construction Management, or related field (preferred but not required).
- Other Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for client meetings and site visits.
- Ability to travel within the designated sales territory.
