Job Overview
The Arundel Yacht Club in Kennebunkport, Maine is hiring a MAINTENANCE STEWARD for its 2025 Boating Season.. Reporting to the Club Manager, this position is responsible for execution of day-to-day responsibilities required to keep the Club property, facilities, and boats well maintained for the safety and enjoyment of its members. This position requires a blend of mechanical knowledge, customer service skills, and the ability to work with and assist team members.
Duties
- Maintain docks, boats, equipment and facilities to be operational at all times
- Utilize mechanical knowledge to complete tasks such as dock repairs, painting, and other repair projects
- Assist yacht club members with their boating related needs
- Identify building and property deficiencies and report to the Club Manager
- Determine if repairs and maintenance can be handled internally or if outside vendors are required
- Oversee and help instruct other club Stewards in making repairs that are appropriate for AYC staff to handle internally
- Keep all Club facilities and assets clean, organized and in good repair. This includes the clubhouse (kitchen, bathrooms, and common areas) , docks, grounds (lawn, shrubs, parking lot), and club equipment
- Demonstrate competent skills with fundamental repair and carpentry tools
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing any concerns or requests from clients promptly.
Requirements
- Fundamental maintenance and repair skills. Experience working with power tools, light carpentry work. painting, and other basic repair skills. Boat maintenance skills are a plus.
- Ability to work independently, monitor club operations, assisting members as needed.
- Comfortable working in and around boats, floating docks, and the waterfront.
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task while staying consistently focused on member needs.
- Demonstrated customer service skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Stewards required to pass a Boating Safety Education Course (no cost to employee).
- First Aid/CPR certifications are a plus.
- Familiar with private social clubs is a plus.
- Significant weekend work required.
Fkexibilty in Schedule
- Approximate starting/ending dates: May 10 to September 28
- Peak schedule period June 14 - September 7, weekends required
- Peak schedule: 35 - 40 hours per week, option of 4 day week
- Off peak schedule flexible - will discuss with qualified candidates
