About the job
The Red Hat Developer and Tools Business team is looking for a Developer Advocate to join us in the United States. In this role, you will guide our developer experience and engagement, working with both internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities that will help improve developer productivity. You’ll be expected to perform some integration work to improve the developer experience. This is a great opportunity to become familiar with a diverse range of Red Hat’s technologies. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
What you will do
- Create the vision for Red Hat’s tools and technology and inspire professional software and system engineers to enable them to solve the industry's challenges today and tomorrow
- Speak and share expertise at user groups and conferences in various locations throughout the U.S. and worldwide
- Create technical content for publication on a blog and other channels to show software and system engineers how to implement specific solutions or use new technologies
- Educate and empower software and system engineers by creating and delivering practical technical workshops worldwide
- Build partnerships with individuals, companies, and organizations that serve the same communities
- Connect and network with other engineers to identify how Red Hat might help them be more successful
- Gather and socialize product feedback that will inform engineering, sales, and marketing decision making
- Support engineers wherever they are, on forums, social media, meetups and everywhere in between
What you will bring
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or data processing technology; we will accept a combination of education and professional credentials that are equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree
- 10 years of experience in the job offered or in a related software development role
- Willingness to travel required up to 50% of the time, following Red Hat’s COVID-19 guidelines; all travel will be reimbursed by Red Hat
- 4 years of experience with making contributions to open source software
- 3 years of experience with cloud and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Red Hat OpenStack Platform, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Microsoft Azure, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Ubuntu, Fedora, or Centos
- 1 year(s) of experience with Docker, continuous Integration (CI) or continuous delivery (CD) using tools like Jenkins, Go CD, or a comparable technology, and automation using tools like Puppet, Chef, or Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform; experience presenting technical content at industry conferences
- Knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) or machine learning (ML) and DevSecOps is a plus
