What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Mentor --(Coach/Staff) position at Red Hawk Academy, LLC?
Red Hawk Academy is hiring mentors to work with at-risk youth in a residential treatment setting. All shifts are awake positions. All applicants must be 21 years of age or older, able to pass a drug test, and able to pass a federal background screening check. Pay depends on experience. Hiring for Swing Shift (3pm - 11pm) as well as Grave shift (11pm-7am).
Mentor responsibilities Include:
- Be knowledgeable and supportive of the residents’ individualized care plan; provide feedback to the team regarding the strengths and challenges residents face meeting their goals.
- Maintain a professional relationship under all foreseen and unforeseen circumstances.
- Maintain a “home-like” atmosphere that is supportive of the developmental needs of the residents.
- Occasionally accompany youth on recreational outings and to medical appointments.
- Identify signs of emotional or developmental problems in children and bring them to the team’s attention.
- Support youth's emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others, modeling appropriate behaviors and promoting positive self-concepts.
- Support residents’ success in school work.
- Provide guidance to residents in making positive decisions which will contribute the achievement of their goals.
- Documentation of shift specific paperwork.
- Attend all weekly, monthly and yearly training's to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Participation in resident therapeutic and social skills groups.
- Administer medication to residents.
- Ensure the shift is on schedule.
- Delegate tasks to support staff and ensure tasks are accomplished.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Night shift
- Weekends as needed
