What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Manager position at Red Lion Hotel Columbia Center?
What knowledge, skills and abilities do I need to have? (the must-haves)
· Oversee operations of the Hotel
· Manage required expenses to be inline with Hotel goals.
· Submit quarterly plans and actions for operations of the property.
· Develop management and staff programs to increase guest satisfaction.
· Conduct weekly staff meetings.
· Maintain product and service standards.
· Approve promotions and local advertising.
· Encourage Essential Principles of Service throughout hotel
· Support the Ignite Mission
· Aid department managers with procedures, service standards, goal setting and
daily duties.
· Participate in appropriate industry related community and State organizations.
· Represent the hotel in public speaking forums.
· Inspect guest rooms, public access areas, and grounds for cleanliness and
appearance.
· May at times be needed to serve as a Transportation Agent to facilitate
transportation needs of guests (or supplies) in lieu of a dedicated Transportation
Agent at the hotel, if applicable.
· Other duties as assigned or as needed to create Signature Moments for our
guests.

What are the essential functions?
· Thorough knowledge of computer systems: i.e. MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint,
and electronic scheduling and e-mail systems.
· There are times when you may have to deal with an unhappy person; you do
need to know how to deal professionally, courteously and tactfully with the public
and coworkers.
· Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize well to meet deadlines
· Behaves with integrity, honesty and is open with guests and fellow associates.
· Develops effective working relationship with fellow associates, managers, outside
representatives and agencies.
