TITLE: Health Aide
EMPLOYMENT TERMS: Ten (10) Months- Classified Non-Exempt
SALARY CLASSIFICATION: Classified Salary Schedule
JOB GOALS: To provide health related assistance to students; to assist in creating a climate of health and well being; to assure a caring and understanding environment for students.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
OFFICE INTERACTION
- Prepares a physical environment that meets the needs of students;
- Enters all data of student health records/reasons for absence/special reports;
- Performs typing and filing as required;
- Assists with telephone coverage;
- Maintains supply inventory;
- Maintains immunization records and deficiency notifications;
- Communicates health symptoms to parents;
- Notifies supervisor and proper authorities of special problems involving students;
- Assists with clinics
- Performs other related tasks as assigned;
STUDENT INTERACTION
- Administers basic first aid to students;
- Assists student physicals;
- Conducts visual, auditory, special education screening within timeline;
- Assists with hygiene activities needed for students;
- Assists with health education activities including small group instruction as outlined by district nurse or building
- Transports students as required;
- Dispense medication under supervising Registered Nurse;
- Performs other related tasks as
CERTIFICATION: CPR Annual; Advanced First Aid certification; CNA or AA in Health related field, EMT certification, Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: AA Degree or CNA
EXPERIENCE: Less than one year's experience is acceptable with appropriate education. LICENSE: Driver's License
Health Aide - Round Rock
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: May be required to assist students with restricted mobility; must be able to move quickly, stoop and bend frequently lifting minimum of 80 pounds.

LOW RISK OCCUPATIONAL CONDITION: Works with some hazardous materials, blood borne pathogens.
SKILLS REQUIRED: Ability to communicate and work well with children; ability to handle and operate assistance equipment.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: Acceptable health and first aid care practices, use of materials and equipment.
SUPERVISOR: Exceptional Programs Director and Principal as appropriate
SUPERVISION: Groups of students and other paraprofessionals.
EVALUATION PROCEDURE: In accordance with provisions specified in districts board policy.
