Depal Machine Operator

Shift: 2nd Shift- M-F 2pm-10:30pm

Shift: 3rd Shift Sun-Thurs 10pm-6:30am

Position Profile:

Efficiently operates the glass depalletizing machine.   Ensures equipment operates effectively and within specification, including troubleshooting and minor mechanical adjustments. Must be able to keep accurate and detailed records, maintain cleanliness of work area, must work well with others, and have problem-solving skills. Is fully compliant with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) for all GMP areas.  As a part of our manufacturing group, the position will be responsible for supporting production packaging and processing operations, sanitation, and participation in startup, changeover, and shutdown of operating equipment and forklifts.

Job Duties and Accountabilities:

• Safety.        
  • Works in a safe manner. Always complies with safe work practices Reports unsafe conditions or situations to supervisor or management.
  • Responsible for reporting to Lead/Supervisor all incidents involving damaged product or pallets and/or structural damaged whether caused by the employee or found during safety walks. Responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of the depalletizer area. 
• Food Safety.  
  • Complies with and executes Good Manufacturing Practices. Recognizes non-compliance and takes action to correct or report observed violations of GMPs.

• Depalletizer Operation.  
  1. Demonstrates the ability to operate automated equipment effectively and safely.   Ensures proper components and efficient product flow to and through the equipment. Ensures product containers are fed into the automated process using accepted procedures and GMPs.  
  2. Ensures glass bottles and glass pallets are in good quality and within Red Monkey Foods specifications. 
  3. Participates in startup, changeover, sanitation, and shut down of operating equipment.
  4. Inspects, addresses, and monitors for glass breaks with equipment and addresses with Quality team. 
  5. Inspects equipment and performs basic maintenance functions as part of daily operations and completes necessary documentation/logs.
  6. Participates in troubleshooting problems with machinery and partners with maintenance staff to resolve issues. 
  7. Performs other duties as necessary in the event of equipment downtime or failure. 
  8. Assists in training new employees.
  9. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Work is done standing in a production area, warehouse area, and on machine mezzanines. The employee is required to stand; walk; climb stairs; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The position involves standing, walking and lifting 10 to 20 pounds for long periods of time throughout the day. May be required to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. 
  10. Other tasks as assigned   
• Forklift Operation. 
  1. Demonstrates the ability to safely and effectively operate forklifts and material moving equipment. Completes forklift certification as required.
  2. Meets productivity requirements for assigned work.
  3. Work is performed in a warehouse and production environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is required to safely operate a forklift or other material moving equipment and to physically handle product(s) and material throughout the day.  
• Inventory Control.
  1.  Complies with and executes warehouse inventory processes and procedures including scanning inventory and accurately completing inventory documentation. This includes building tickets and material movement documentation. Requires accuracy and attention to detail in placing material and product in warehouse locations as well as preparing and staging loads for production. 

• Teamwork and Collaboration.   
  • Actively engages in warehouse and team meetings and provides timely feedback to teams regarding work topics.  Understands organizational mesh points and potential synergies. Integrates team efforts across work team.  Understands available resources and utilizes those resources when appropriate.

Incumbent Profile:

Education and Experience Required

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Demonstrated ability to effectively operate any assigned machinery.
• Previous experience as a machine operator preferred.
• Ability to read, write, listen, and use general communication skills.
• Machine Operator experience preferred.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required

• Effective communication skills and able to effectively work in a team environment.
• Must be performance and quality driven, including high attention to detail.

• Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling, and twisting over surfaces.
• Ability to monitor multiple machines within a close proximity.
• Willing to work with and around industrial high-speed moving machinery.
