What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Extern - General Practice position at Red Mountain Animal Hospital?
[1] Red Mountain Animal Hospital is a well-established small animal practice in east Mesa. We are a two-doctor practice with a fun and collaborative team. We have proudly served the community since the early 1990's and won the Mesa Tribune's 2023 Best Veterinarian in Mesa. Our practice puts great emphasis on excellent patient and client care as well as staff well-being.
Students will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creation of treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. In addition to practicing their clinical skills, student externs will have the opportunity to practice their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. We offer externships to veterinary students in their 3rd and 4th year.
