Job Description:
We are seeking a Medical Assistant to join our dedicated team at our urgent care facility. In this fast-paced role, you will be responsible for providing hands-on support to patients and assisting healthcare providers with clinical and administrative tasks. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will help deliver high-quality, compassionate care to our patients in a dynamic and ever-changing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Support:
- Greet patients and escort them to exam rooms.
- Take and record vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration.
- Collect patient medical history and document relevant information in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations, procedures, and minor treatments.
- Prepare and assist with diagnostic tests (e.g., strep throat, glucose testing, EKGs).
- Perform routine lab tests and specimen collection (e.g., blood, urine) as ordered by the healthcare provider.
- Administer injections, vaccines, and other treatments as prescribed.
- Clean, dress, and bandage wounds and assist with other minor procedures.
- Provide patient education on treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care instructions.
Administrative Support:
- Answer phone calls, schedule appointments, and manage patient inquiries.
- Register new patients and verify patient information, including insurance details.
- Process billing and co-pays, and ensure insurance information is accurate.
- Maintain patient charts and ensure all necessary documentation is completed.
- Ensure exam rooms and work areas are clean, organized, and stocked with necessary medical supplies.
- Assist with maintaining and organizing medical supplies inventory.
Patient Care:
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered care and build rapport with patients to ensure a positive experience.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers.
- Assist patients in completing forms and providing necessary medical information.
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment, adhering to infection control standards.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) is preferred.
- Previous experience as a Medical Assistant in an urgent care, clinic, or healthcare setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and best practices.
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and basic office equipment (e.g., fax, phone, computer).
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with patients and team members.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
- Ability to work in a team and adapt to changing priorities.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time and assist patients when needed.
- Ability to lift and move patients or medical equipment, up to [insert weight] pounds.
