Position Summary:
The Production Planner will be responsible for managing and coordinating production schedules across six manufacturing facilities. This role requires strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills to ensure efficient production planning, on-time delivery, and inventory management. The Production Planner will work closely with plant managers, supply chain teams, and customer service representatives to align production with demand forecasts and operational capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain detailed production schedules for six manufacturing facilities based on customer demand, production capacity, and resource availability.
- Ensure production schedules align with inventory targets, operational efficiency, and delivery deadlines.
- Monitor and adjust schedules as needed to accommodate changes in demand, equipment availability, and supply chain disruptions.
- Monitor raw material and finished goods inventory levels to ensure adequate supply for production and customer orders.
- Coordinate with procurement teams to address material shortages and ensure timely delivery of raw materials.
- Identify production bottlenecks and recommend strategies to improve efficiency and maximize capacity utilization.
- Develop contingency plans to address production disruptions or changes in demand.
- Track and report key production planning metrics, including production output, schedule adherence, and inventory levels.
- Use data-driven insights to recommend improvements to production processes and planning strategies.
- Work closely with plant managers, supply chain teams, and quality assurance teams to ensure seamless coordination of production activities.
- Communicate production schedules, changes, and priorities to all relevant stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in production planning and scheduling.
- Implement best practices to enhance operational efficiency and reduce waste.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or supply chain management within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills (formulas, power queries, etc.) and Power BI knowledge is a plus
- Proficiency in production planning software and ERP systems (preferably Microsoft Dynamics / BC Foods).
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration across departments.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
- Knowledge of commodity processing and food manufacturing is a plus.
