Position Title:
Lead Teller
Reports To:
Teller Supervisor and/or Branch Manager
Basic Function:
Able to competently perform all teller duties without supervision. Motivates and trains less experienced tellers.
Responsibilities:
- Cash and deposit checks for members in accordance with operating procedures of the Credit Union, disburse cash by withdrawals and cash advances after obtaining proper identification.
- Make withdrawals by cashier’s checks, take payments, and make transfers as requested by members.
- Cross-sells all RRCU services, answers phone, and assist members with any questions they may have about member services.
- Make wise decisions based upon adequate knowledge of Credit Union policies and procedures.
- Balance cash drawer daily; remains alert to needed address changes.
- Responsible for the security of their own negotiables until signed over to the proper designated employee. Alert to warnings of fraud and able to detect and avoid possible fraudulent activity.
- Able to balance ATMs, post night deposits, verify vault currency and cash shipments.
- Cross-trained to open new membership and all other type accounts.
- Able to issue ATM cards and reorder checks.
- Assist in balancing the cash dispenser when necessary.
- Motivate and coach other tellers when needed.
- Adheres to all Red River Employees Federal Credit Union policies and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Three or more years of teller experience with a financial institution.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Competent computer skills and use of standard office equipment.
- Ability to meet, speak and deal effectively with people, being professional always.
- Must maintain a neat and professional appearance.
- While the following list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented, identified physical requirements include ability to lift heavy bags of coin, to stand on feet for long periods of time, and to operate standard teller equipment.
