Position Summary
The Material Coordinator LH organizes and expedites the flow of material, parts, and assemblies within or between departments in accordance with production and shipping schedules or department supervisors’ priorities. The Material Coordinator also attends meetings and briefings as required, and coordinates HMSO production and shipping schedules with department priorities
Essential Functions of the Position
- Arranges for in-plant transfer of materials to meet production schedules, and with department supervisors for repair and assembly of material and its transportation to various departments, and examines material delivered to production departments to verify if type specified.
- Reviews production schedules and confers with department supervisors to determine material required or overdue and to locate material, requisitions material and establishes delivery sequences to departments according to job order priorities and anticipated availability of material; Responds to routine and non-routine requests.
- Monitor and control movement of material and parts along conveyor system, using remote-control panel board, compute amount of material needed for specific job orders, applying knowledge of product and manufacturing processes and using adding machine
- Compile report of quantity and type of material on hand, move or transport material from one department to another, using hand or industrial truck; may compile perpetual production records in order to locate material in process of production, using manual or computerized system, and maintain employee records.
- Enters all Hazardous Material tracking records into EESOH-MIS
- Fulfilling orders, packaging Hazardous Material items for shipment and arranging delivery and pickups.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Outlook, and Word to transcribe information into a clear and understandable format.
- Reviews forecasted schedules, job orders and workload.
- Confers with department supervisor and coordinates transfer of material to meet mission goals.
- Responsible for material inspection, monitoring and controlling material movement, maintaining records, reports and following Army regulation and local guidance.
- Performs other relevant duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
No direct supervisory responsibilities.
Physical Demands
- Required to walk, stand, sit and move about the property for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
Work Environment
- This position is classified as low hazard.
- Indoor/Outdoor; exposure to external environmental conditions possible.
- Noise level can range from minimal to intense.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must have warehouse experience.
- HAZWOPER and HAZCOM certification is preferred
- Must be skilled in problem resolution, material handling equipment and hand truck operation.
- Forklift certification required.
- Must be able to speak, write, read, and understand English.
- Must have ability to multitask and demonstrate attention to detail.
- Must be reliable, responsible, and able to fulfill obligations.
- Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a valid drivers license
