Position Summary
The S1 Chief will perform a variety of tasks in preparation of various military S1 human resource tasks.
Essential Functions of the Position
- Perform clerical and secretarial duties
- Exercise discretion always; limited judgment may be necessary at times.
- Provide support to the functional areas for the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization, and Security (DPTMS), Mobilization Branch, Personnel Section.
- Performs duties relating to one or more of the following: military records, personnel processing, contingency operations and Soldier Readiness Process support, personnel actions, personnel manning, transition/separation/retirement support, special actions, and casualty operations.
- Establishes and maintains all required forms, records, and files.
- Make additions, revisions, or edits to records or files to keep them current, complete, and accurate in accordance with Army regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Retrieve data from various information sources, both manual and electronic, for use in answering questions, responding to correspondence, or preparing reports, statistical analysis or conducting briefings.
- Ensures requirements For Official Use Only materials are properly followed, where applicable.
- Receives and answers routine and complex telephone and electronic mail inquires or refers to appropriate staff member.
- Uses judgment to answer recurring questions and resolve clerical and administrative problems.
- Coordinates with installation commanders and higher headquarters to resolve discrepancies.
- Research and/or provides information on personnel related issues to service members and appropriate sections within the DPTMS Mobilization Branch regarding directly applicable rules, regulations, procedures, and requirements to provide explanations of actions taken or recommended.
- Ensures that all regulatory requirements related to the specific action are met.
- Validate applications and process actions which include but are not limited to orders, meal tickets, and transportation arrangements.
- Will be required on occasion to support operations at the A/DACG.
- Will support the QC/Safety office’s guidance on all regulatory OSHA requirements.
- Will enforce and maintain all Performance Work Statement requirements of training for current and future contracts.
Physical Demands
- Required to walk, stand, sit, and move about the property for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Required Qualifications and Expectations
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent.
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English at the DLI Level 5/5/5/5 skill level.
- Requires basic knowledge of various office software packages.
- Ability to follow oral or written instructions in English.
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.
- Ability to obtain access and be proficient in one or more automated systems to accomplish tasks as required by mission requirements, such as iPERMS, DAMPS-U/DAMPS-CTCS, DARTS, TRANSPROC, eMILPO, PERNET/TOPMIS/EDAS,DEERS/RAPIDS,DAMPS OCOTCS,ATRRS
- Must have 2-3 years’ experience as a Personnel Assistant II.
- Military S1 background or related experience is preferred.
Work Environment
- Indoor/Outdoor; exposure to external environmental conditions possible.
- Noise level can range from minimal to intense.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain CAC access, to include network access.
- Valid Driver's License and ability to maintain post driving privileges.
- Prior experience working with/for the US Military, a plus.
- Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.
