Position Overview :

The Manager of Fire Operations at MNL / RRF focuses on the strategic planning, implementation and safety of prescribed fire while supporting wildland wildfire suppression operations. This role ensures the safe and effective implementation of prescribed burns, oversees wildfire suppression teams, and integrates fire management strategies with the company's broader restoration and emergency response goals. The position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.

Primary Duties

  • You will be expected to contribute wholly to the mission of Minnesota Native Landscapes, Inc. (MNL) and Red Rock Fire LLC (RRF) by serving as a Manager. You will work closely with MNL / RRF Project Managers to act as an interface between customers and MNL / RRF Staff.
  • Organize and manage all aspects of the company Rx Fire Program.
  • Organize and manage all aspects of the company Fire Suppression Program.
  • Actively pursue revenue streams and volume that results in program growth.
  • Identify, pursue, and secure project opportunities. Conduct market research to locate potential projects, prepare competitive bids, and negotiate contracts to ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • You will be involved and coordinate company strategic planning & continuity of operations.
  • Recruit, train, and lead a team of prescribed fire and wildfire suppression professionals.
  • Prepare budgets, manage resources, and track project outcomes to ensure cost-effective and high-quality service delivery.
  • Build relationships with local, state, and federal agencies, as well as conservation organizations, to support fire management objectives.
  • To oversee crew members and make sure that they follow all company guidelines and procedures and manage crew member accountability and productivity.
  • To implement the internal and external processes that develop the Fire Program as directed by MNL / RRF Management.
  • Participate in all aspects of the projects and serve as both a crew supervisor and a crew member when needed.
  • Represent MNL / RRF at industry events, conferences, and community forums.
  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Fire Science, Forestry, Ecology, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in prescribed fire and / or wildland firefighting role.
  • Minimum 3 years in a leadership / management role.
  • Certified MN Prescribed Burner (CMPB) (or equivalent).
  • Experience in ecological restoration or land management projects.
  • Strong project management skills, including budget and resource management.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • General Expectations

  • To maintain an honest and open line of communication with other members of the MNL / RRF staff. This includes being forthcoming with crew members and your supervisors. Timely, straightforward information communication with your supervisors is critical and expected of you.
  • To understand and operate under the standards set forth in the MNL Company Guidelines.
  • To serve as a key member of MNL, Inc. and Red Rock Fire LLC.
  • To always present yourself in a professional manner while on the job.
  • To oversee the coordination and daily activities in an efficient and productive manner.
  • To keep and maintain a daily log / time sheet of activities performed and other written records as required.
  • To help maintain safe, clean working conditions, facilities, and equipment.
  • To maintain and convey a positive attitude about MNL / RRF to fellow employees, customers, and the public.
  • To be willing to travel, with possible overnight stays as the Rx fire seasons demand.
  • Compensation :

  • Starting salary : $85,000-$95,000 DOQ
