Summary of Position


This Admissions Counselor provides administrative and program support for admissions and recruitment. Administrative support includes processing documents, responding to inquiries, troubleshooting student registration issues, and directing students to other appropriate college departments. The Admissions Counselor is also responsible for working in the RRCC call center answering calls from prospective students, students, faculty, staff, and community members. Recruitment activities include substantial face-to-face and one-to-one contact with diverse individuals. This position is responsible for conducting outreach efforts in the Red Rocks Community College service area, primarily the Denver metro area, providing families and prospective students with accurate and timely information, and helping throughout the admissions process.

The Admissions office is open Monday through Thursday, 8:00 am to 6:00 pm and Friday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. This position will work 8:45 am to 6:00 pm Monday -Thursday and 8:00 am – 4:00 pm on Friday. Additional hours may be required to cover recruiting events, extended hours, and other campus events that fall outside of normal business hours on evenings and weekends. Attendance at various off campus events and some travel may be required. May require work at both campuses. May require travel between campuses.

  • Relationship Building: Fosters and sustains robust connections, internally and externally, to effectively collaborate in providing support for all students.
  • Planning and Prioritization: Organizes work, sets priorities, and determines resource requirements. Coordinates with others in response to multiple, competing demands to ensure work is completed in a timely manner. Readily readjusts priorities to respond to pressing and changing demands.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with the ability to maintain databases and generate reports.
  • Ability to make public presentations and communicate to an audience.
  • Ability to professionally represent the college.

Required Qualifications

  • An associate degree from an accredited institution AND two years’ relevant experience OR a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Two years’ experience in customer service and/or sales.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse communities and supporting individuals from diverse populations, which may include but are not limited to, racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds that are underrepresented.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Communication, Counseling, or related degree.
  • One year of experience recruiting students into college educational programs.
  • Experience with Student Information Systems, such as Banner.
  • Bilingual in English & Spanish.

Physical & Cognitive Demands

The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.

  • Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 15 lbs.
  • This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.
  • This position will require operation of a motor vehicle on occasion and/or the ability to drive.
  • The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.

tarting Salary

Starting salary range for this position is $47,396 to $52,136 annually, commensurate with education and experience. This is a full-time, FLSA-exempt position. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.
