Maintenance Technician
Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician supports all departments by maintaining and optimizing equipment to achieve the best production results. This role requires timely responses to equipment issues and production support to ensure efficient operations.
Key Responsibilities
General Responsibilities
- Ensure all work is performed safely and without injury.
- Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) at all times (e.g., no jewelry, cell phones, nicotine use, etc.).
- Report all food safety issues to the appropriate manager or supervisor.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the shift.
- Lift up to 35 pounds unassisted and work while standing/walking for the duration of the shift.
- Develop, implement, and support Continuous Improvement Programs.
- Initiate corrective actions for non-conformances.
- Identify and document opportunities for improvement in the See It, Sort It, Report It system.
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Work unscheduled overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
Maintenance Responsibilities
- Participate in shift pass-down meetings with the previous Maintenance Technician.
- Review the Maintenance Communication Board daily for outstanding action items.
- Respond promptly to maintenance-related machine safety issues.
- Assist with machine preventative maintenance (PMs) and repairs.
- Complete work orders through MVP when not working on urgent repairs.
- Enter required information into OPS Tracker and MVP daily.
- Work on continuous improvement projects assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
- Respond to any emergency or potential emergency.
- Support the tooling department as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Knowledge or competency in:
- Windows-based programs
- Blueprint reading
- Pneumatics & hydraulics
- Electrical codes & controls
- PLC systems
- Metal fabrication & machine shop equipment
- Mechanical principles & basic welding
- Ability to perform basic electrical troubleshooting of machinery and read electrical schematics.
- Experience in replacing heater bands, heat relays, and troubleshooting heat zones.
- Understanding of hydraulic system servicing, including pump replacements.
- Ability to troubleshoot pneumatic systems.
Experience Requirements
- 1-2 years of experience in:
- PLC/PC-controlled machinery
- Electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting
- Maintenance and repair of plant utilities
- Experience with injection machine troubleshooting (preferred).
- Experience repairing high-speed packaging equipment (preferred).
- Familiarity with injection processing (preferred).
- Knowledge of ISO or similar quality systems and SQF or similar food safety systems (preferred).
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or technical college diploma in a related field (preferred).
