Position Summary: The Production Supervisor will supervise and coordinate the activities of workers engaged in processing products, ensuring the efficient operation of the department. This role is key to ensuring that production goals are met while maintaining safety and quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Inspect products to ensure conformance to specifications, directing the setup and adjustment of machines as necessary.
- Review production schedules and estimate worker hour requirements to complete job assignments.
- Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations.
- Interpret job orders to workers and assign duties accordingly.
- Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Recommend improvements to production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
- Suggest changes in working conditions and equipment use to enhance shop or department efficiency.
- Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving them.
- Propose or initiate plans to motivate workers and achieve work goals.
- Maintain time and production records.
- Estimate, requisition, and inspect materials.
- Collaborate with other supervisors to coordinate departmental activities.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Food Safety guidelines.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Experience working in manufacturing.
- Previous experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Experience in a supervisory or leadership role in a production setting.
Good communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with team members, management, and other departments. - Basic understanding of safety practices and regulations in a manufacturing or food production environment.
- Ability to read and interpret production schedules, work orders, and safety guidelines.
- Proficient with basic math skills for production tracking and inventory control (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
- Ability to learn and use production software and systems, such as ERP systems or manufacturing tracking tools.
- Ability to stand for long periods and move around the production floor.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks as needed.
- Comfortable working in environments with varying temperatures and noise levels.
