Role Overview:
The Grocery Store Assistant Manager supports the General Manager in overseeing daily store operations and ensuring smooth functioning across all departments. This role involves managing staff, maintaining high standards of customer service, and ensuring operational efficiency. The Assistant Manager acts as a key leader, stepping in as needed to manage the store in the General Manager’s absence.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Support:
- Assist in implementing strategies to achieve store sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction goals.
- Oversee daily operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and inventory management.
- Monitor and support compliance with store policies, operational standards, and safety protocols.
Staff Supervision and Development:
- Supervise, train, and motivate staff to ensure optimal performance and engagement.
- Assist in scheduling, delegating tasks, and managing labor costs.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
- Support recruitment and onboarding of new employees.
Customer Service Excellence:
- Ensure staff delivers excellent customer service, addressing escalated customer concerns promptly and professionally.
- Promote a positive shopping experience by maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming store environment.
- Implement customer service initiatives to improve satisfaction and loyalty.
Inventory and Merchandising:
- Assist with inventory control to minimize shrinkage and maintain appropriate stock levels.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree in Business or Retail Management preferred).
- 3 years of experience in retail or grocery store management.
