The Redding Rancheria is seeking a Temporary Charge Nurse LVN. The position is up to 28 hours per week.
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Nursing Supervisor assists with the day to day coordination and operation of the medical department. The Charge Nurse is responsible for the smooth and efficient patient flow within the clinic and providing assistance and support to staff in accordance with their level of training and the patient’s acuity. Works, in cooperation with medical providers to insure the quality of patient care.
REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of accredited school of professional nursing and licensed to practice as a nurse (LVN) in the state of California.
- Experience as Charge Nurse within the last two years preferred.
- CPR certification.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening.
- Indian preference.
- Must be fingerprinted and pass background check
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Demonstrates competency and professional responsibility in the Charge Nurse role.
- Follows provider orders, evaluates nursing interventions, implements emergency procedures as indicated, and complies with clinic policy and scope of practice.
- Performs direct patient care as needed/indicated, including but not limited to, rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, ht./wt., documentation of intake notes, evaluation of patient signs/symptoms, and reporting findings to appropriate personnel.
- Appropriately documents in the electronic healthcare record (EHR) full vital signs, medication profile updates, immunization records, chief complaints, interventions provided and responses.
- Assists with daily workflow to maintain smooth operation of daily activities, including reviewing appointments, assisting with floor assignments, ensuring patient flow, and following up on quality improvement measures.
- Assist with the maintenance and inventory of medical equipment, supplies, and educational materials, which may include (but not limited to), participation in monthly medication counts, medication inventory, crash cart medication and supply counts, ensuring all required in-clinic temperature checks are accurate and complete.
- Participates in providing patient education on symptom management, treatment plan, sign/symptoms to report and pertinent health related information consistent within the scope of LVN.
- Effectively communicates relevant information, including, but not limited to, changes in patient’s status, observable feedback for process improvements and/or requests RN and/or Supervisory support for clinical situations outside of the LVN scope of practice.
- Maintain open communication for patients and staff to be advised of problem solving and informational changes.
- Provides observational feedback of Medical Assistants and relays pertinent findings to the Nursing Supervisor to support routine performance evaluations and corrective measures.
- Participates in identification and implementation of on-going clinical training opportunities.
- Assists with Care Coordinator tasks, including assisting with patient referrals, provider PAQs, tasks boxes and rending assistance to clinic providers within the scope of LVN.
- Assists with patient complaints regarding Medical Department in real time as the need may arise.
- Works on assigned projects/tasks under the direction of the Nursing Supervisor.
