Job Details
- Status: Part-time to full-time, 29-40 hours per week (schedule flexible based on need).
- Compensation Type: Hourly.
- Salary Range: Based on experience and education. $20-$22.5/hr

Duties
Library Management & Literacy Promotion
- Maintain an organized, welcoming, and engaging library space.
- Manage the library collection, including cataloging, inventory, and book circulation.
- Curate age-appropriate book selections that support classroom themes and student interests.
- Foster a love of reading by organizing book fairs, reading challenges, and literacy events.
- Support teachers by providing book recommendations and classroom reading materials.
Literacy Instruction & Classroom Support
- Teach scheduled literacy lessons to students in the library, incorporating interactive read-alouds, writing activities, and comprehension strategies.
- Visit classrooms to deliver literacy-focused lessons that align with curriculum goals.
- Model effective literacy instruction for teachers and provide best-practice recommendations.
- Develop engaging activities that reinforce vocabulary development, phonemic awareness, and reading fluency.
Reading Intervention & Small Groups (Upon Microschool Opening)
- Lead small-group reading instruction for students needing additional literacy support.
- Assess students? reading levels and track progress using appropriate assessment tools.
- Implement differentiated reading strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to reinforce reading skills and literacy goals.
Administrative & Collaborative Duties
- Work with the Director and teachers to integrate literacy instruction across subjects.
- Assist in organizing school-wide literacy initiatives, such as author visits and themed reading weeks.
- Maintain student literacy records and communicate progress to teachers and families.
- Assist with professional development by sharing effective literacy strategies with staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor?s degree or higher in Education, Reading Instruction, or a related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience, with a focus on reading instruction or literacy development.
- Strong knowledge of early literacy strategies, phonics instruction, and differentiated reading approaches.
- Experience working with children in a structured learning environment.
- Familiarity with children?s literature and best practices for managing a school library.
- Ability to create engaging, developmentally appropriate literacy lessons for various age groups.
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to support diverse learners.
- Proficiency in technology, including Google Suite, digital reading platforms, and library cataloging systems.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with students, staff, and families.
