Position Summary: Lead Teacher for the Monday-Thursday Half Day Kindergarten Transition
class. Total of 19 hours per week, including preparation time.
Key Responsibilities:
- 1. Instruction
- Sets up and maintains a classroom environment that meets the requirements of
the health department and licensing - Plans written lessons and activities that further the development of the whole
child - Integrates professional knowledge and Colorado Early Learning and Development
Guidelines into planning and instruction - Assesses children regularly and addresses individual needs
- Identifies children who may need additional support or intervention and refers to
appropriate support staff - Supervises classroom assistant and holds them accountable to their job
description and work hours
- Sets up and maintains a classroom environment that meets the requirements of

- Develops effective and regular communication with families
- Notifies parents of progress and concerns
- Conducts parent conferences and parent forums as scheduled
- Creates monthly calendars for classroom, snacks, and events
- Creates student portfolios for each child
- 3. Staff Responsibilities
- Finds a substitute teacher when needed and provides lesson plans for substitute
- Gives directions to volunteers
- Is aware of and complies with personnel policies and procedures
- Is aware of all rules regulating childcare facilities
- Attends monthly staff meetings, in-service days, and other mandatory preschool
and church functions - Follows procedures outlined in staff handbook and guidelines given by director
- Represents Redeemer Early Childhood Center and Redeemer Lutheran church in
a positive light in the community - Participates in special committees or teams as needed
- 4. General Requirements
- Meets general requirements for all personnel as stated in 7.702.51 of the Rules
Regulating Child Care Centers. Among the requirements are:
1. Staff members are to be current for all immunizations routinely
recommended for adults by their health care provider.
2. All staff members must submit to the center a medical statement, signed
and dated by a licensed physician or other health-care professional,
verifying that they are in good mental, physical, and emotional health
appropriate for the position for which they have been hired. This
statement must be dated no more than six (6) months prior to
employment or within thirty (30) days after the date of employment. - Complete all required trainings annually
- Attend all school days and events as outlined on the staff calendar
- Meets general requirements for all personnel as stated in 7.702.51 of the Rules
Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Meets Colorado Department of Early Childhood requirements for an early
- Attributes: Strong organizational and time-management skills, Ability to work independently and as part of a team, Commitment to uphold Redeemer’s values and mission
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Compensation Range:
- Compensation based on years of teaching experience and education on Poudre School
