SUMMARY OF JOB:The Assistant Teacher supports the Teachers and the Director by helping to create a warm, nuturing, and safe environment for the children and assisting in activities to improve the overall care and quality of education. S/he must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment. S/he is to assist in providing a warm, nurturing and safe environment for the children where self-concepts are enhanced, independence encouraged and individuality respected in accordance with organizational policies and state and local requirements. Assist in the implementation of the daily activities under the guidance of the teacher. Coordinate daily activities in the absence of the teacher.

- AA/AAS degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
- A high school diploma, 30 college credits, including 12 Early Childhood Education credits or
- A high school diploma or general education development certificate and completion of a post-secondary training curriculum such as Child Development Associate (CDA) and 6 ECE credits or
- A high school diploma or general education development certificate and completion of a post-secondary training curriculum such as Child Development Associate (CDA) or
- A high school diploma or general education development certificate and two or more years verified childcare work experience; but must earn a Child Development Award within a year of hire and
- Criminal History, Child Abuse Clearance National Registry of Sex Offenders Clearance and FBI Fingerprinting
LICENSE AND REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS:
Must have or earn a CDA within 18 months of employment.
