What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parents Day Out Floater/Music Teacher position at Redeemer Presbyterian Church?
Redeemer PDO is seeking enthusiastic individuals who love working with children and teaching them both literacy and gospel-centered curriculum. As the primary instructor, it is important that our lead teachers, as well as assistant teachers, serve as a spiritual role model for the student in their care. This program runs on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:30am-2:30 pm for staff, but for the music teacher/floater, hours vary and generally require hours from
Qualifications:
-Personal faith and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
-Desire to support a ministry that provides a Christ-Centered environment for preschool aged children and their families
-High School Diploma or GED
-Work as a team
-Ability to communicate an atmosphere of love and security to children and parents
-Ability to provide and communicate educational growth skills to children 1-4
-Ability to get up and down off of the floor and lift children up to 50 lbs as needed
Job Responsibilities:
-Arrive by 11:00am to prepare for music classes and stay until 2:30pm to clean up after children leave.
-Plan music lessons to go along with current classroom unit and Christian Education lesson.
-Dress appropriately for working with children and moving actively throughout the day. No shorts please.
-Maintain a safe, inclusive, learning environment that celebrates each individual student .
-Provide, with support from classroom teachers and PDO Director, positive behavior support, manage classroom behaviors, and work with parents as necessary.
-Contribute to the program-wide community by maintaining a positive attitude and praying for other staff members and students.
-Develop relationships with children and parents based on mutual respect and trust.
-Attend PDO trainings and receive and maintain First Aid and CPR Certificates.
-Be familiar with and follow the established policies and procedures in the teacher handbook.
-Observe and monitor children during all playtime.
-Assist with toileting/diapering as necessary throughout the day.
-Maintain a clean classroom and sanitize daily/as needed (before and after mealtimes.)
-Attend all required work days and meetings, with the exception of excused absences.
-Keep track of all classroom supplies and inform PDO Director of any needs/repairs.
-Enrich daily programs in a variety of ways, using the best methods of teaching to enhance the children's learning experience.
-Maintain written documentation of any significant injuries and/or behaviors of children.
-Keep daily long for children to send home with parents.
-In the case of absence, notify the Director and work with assistant teacher to prepare for absence.
