Rate : $21 / hour

Position Summary

W83 is home to Redeemer West Side Presbyterian Church and serves as a neighborhood hub for thoughtful conversations, cultural engagement, and community connections on the Upper West Side of NYC.

On-Call Operations & Facilities Team Members provide on-site support for the daily operations and maintenance of the W83 Ministry Center, including general facility needs and event support, on an on-call basis. They help ensure a safe and welcoming environment while delivering WOW-level service.

As a member of the Operations team, you will play a vital role in supporting our staff, congregants, and guests in fulfilling our vision to love our neighbors and heal our city.

Essential Functions

  • Execute pre-event setup and post-event breakdown promptly, following the Operations Manager's instructions.
  • Prepare event rooms by setting up and testing audio / visual equipment, arranging furniture, adjusting room temperature (if necessary), and setting up coffee stations.
  • Handle furniture and equipment with care to ensure longevity and functionality.
  • Provide on-site support for all Operations & Facilities needs, including events, within the departments scope.
  • Collaborate with event staff to ensure smooth execution, including adjusting setups, replenishing coffee, stocking restrooms, managing waste, and addressing last-minute facility needs.
  • Assist the Director with building repairs and maintenance tasks as needed. Basic handyman skills are a plus.
  • Follow building and event policies, and ensure guests comply.
  • Understand and comply with approved emergency plans for all events, including medical emergencies and evacuations.
  • Enforce policies, OSHA regulations, and health and safety guidelines.
  • Attend all staff training and meetings.
  • Assist with off-site events, including transporting items, as assigned by your manager or the Director.
  • Execute tasks diligently and precisely.
  • Maintain clear communication and a positive attitude toward supervisors, team members, staff, and clients.

  • Must obtain FDNY F-03 certification within 60 days of start.
  • Essential Physical Demands

  • Lifting and Carrying : Must be able to frequently lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds and, when necessary, occasionally lift and carry items up to 75 pounds.
  • Mobility : Must be capable of walking and ascending up to seven flights of stairs.
  • Endurance : Must have the physical stamina to stand or walk for extended periods (60 minutes or more) during work activities.
  • Manual Dexterity : Regular use of the hands and arms is required for handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials.
  • Flexibility : The role involves regular activities such as walking, bending, stooping, or kneeling.
