What You’ll Do:
As the Lead Mandarin Teacher, you serve as the curriculum lead for Mandarin courses. Your role involves offering instructional support, contributing to curriculum development, and assessing student progress. As the Curriculum Lead, your responsibilities include designing and managing professional development activities for the Teaching team, conducting classroom observations for instructional coaching, participating in program evaluations, and aiding in the orientation of new teachers. Your teaching workload will be reduced to allow for engagement with the program and completion of all mentioned tasks. Ideal candidates will showcase a passion for teaching Mandarin, a strong dedication to professional development, and a commitment to ensuring student success in language acquisition and proficiency. Time is allocated as follows: 50% Teaching (approx. 5 classes weekly), 25% Curriculum Development, 25% Teacher Support
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide instructional support and mentorship to Mandarin teachers.
- Collaborate on curriculum development to align with program goals and standards.
- Evaluate student progress through assessments and data analysis.
- Create a positive and inclusive learning environment for diverse students.
- Organize and conduct professional development sessions for the Mandarin team.
- Observe classes and provide feedback to improve teaching practices.
- Assist in program evaluation and curriculum revision efforts.
- Support new teacher onboarding and maintain instructional resources.
- Teach and sub in program as needed
Skills and qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Education (Teaching Mandarin to Speakers of Other Languages), Mandarin, Linguistics, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Experience in curriculum development, assessment, and instructional design.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Ability to plan and facilitate professional development sessions for Mandarin instructors and lead curriculum enhancement initiatives.
- Experience conducting class observations, providing feedback, and evaluating instructional effectiveness.
- Commitment to promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment for learners.
- Proficiency in Google Suite suite and other relevant software (Salesforce, Canvas LMS)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with colleagues, providing instructional coaching, and supporting student learning.
