Program Overview
The ReDefiners World Languages Internship Program is a dynamic and immersive opportunity for students completing a degree related to World Language Instruction. Students who work with ReDefiners are seeking to gain additional hands-on experience that often complements previous teaching experience.
Prescribed Experience Goals:
Conducting Classroom Observations to Identify Best Practices related to:
- Implementing a Standards-Based & Thematically Organized Curriculum
- Using the Target Language and Providing Comprehensible Input
- Facilitating a Learner-Centered Classroom
- Conducting Performance-Based Assessments
- Integrating Culture, Content, and Language
- Adapting and Using Age-Appropriate Authentic Materials
Participant Eligibility:
- A bachelor's degree in education or a related field
- Proficiency in the target language(s) to be taught (to be assessed during the interview process)
- Successful completion of a background check or clearance
- Proficiency with educational technology and software used in the classroom
- Sensitivity and awareness of diverse cultural backgrounds
- Availability during the program's scheduled hours (70% of the schedule available in the afternoon and evening)
