looking for a dedicated and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team to
support our financial operations and help us further our mission.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing and overseeing the
financial activities of Redemption Church, Ron Carpenter Ministries, Hope
Carpenter Ministries, Redemption Fellowship, and Red Worship. This person will
oversee a team of finance specialists and administrators to ensure the accurate and
timely recording of all financial transactions, compliance with accounting
standards, and the production of financial reports. This role will play a key part in
supporting the ministry’s financial health and sustainability, working closely with
the Finance Director, CFO, and other ministry leaders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
(balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement).
• Monitor and analyze financial performance, providing recommendations for
improvement or adjustments as needed.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.
• Review and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and
compliance.
• Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial reports for leadership and
church stakeholders.
Accounting Operations:
• Oversee the daily accounting operations, including accounts payable,
accounts receivable, and payroll processing.
• Maintain accurate records of all church transactions, including donations,
tithes, and ministry-related expenses.
• Prepare and manage journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end
closing procedures.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal tax regulations and
accounting principles (GAAP).
• Coordinate and manage the year-end audit process, including preparing
supporting documentation and responding to auditor requests.
Internal Controls & Compliance:
• Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard church assets and
ensure proper financial procedures are followed.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and best practices in
nonprofit accounting and finance.
• Assist with grant reporting and donor fund accounting, ensuring proper
tracking and usage of designated funds.
Team Collaboration & Support:
• Work closely with the Director of Finance & Operations to support the
financial needs of various ministry areas.
• Provide financial training and guidance to church staff and ministry leaders
as needed.
• Assist with financial aspects of capital projects, special events, and church
initiatives.
• Participate in strategic planning and decision-making related to the church’s
financial health and growth.
SKILLS:
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial software, and accounting
systems. (Sage Intacct preferred)
• Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and
nonprofit financial regulations.
• Detail-oriented with a strong ability to analyze financial data and provide
clear, actionable insights.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced
environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain
complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to confidentiality.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA
or MBA preferred.
Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2
years in a senior or managerial accounting role, preferably in a nonprofit or
church setting.
• Experience with nonprofit accounting principles, including fund accounting
and restricted vs. unrestricted funds.
• Familiarity with church-specific financial systems and software (e.g., Church
Management Software, Sage Intacct, Ramp, Nexonia, Bill.com, or similar).

Salary : $115,000 - $125,000
