Sr. Cloud Infrastructure / DevOps Engineer - Remote

This position is a hybrid role requiring employees to work from our headquarters location in Seattle, WA every Tuesday and Wednesday, and remote all other days.

Your leadership will be key in our ability to successfully scale Kubernetes to serve upwards of 50M monthly visitors.As a Sr. Cloud Infrastructure / DevOps Engineer on our cloud compute team, you will help us to architect and build a platform that scales, while ensuring a secure, cost effective and reliable ecosystem. We are excited for you to join us and bring your passion to our platform!The RoleYou will be an architectural contributor as Redfin grows and scales our Kubernetes environment to become the primary platform which runs all of Redfin and Rent’s cloud compute services.You will own, and scale Kubernetes clusters ensuring optimal performance, cost allocation, and resilience.You will play a role in evolving the Kubernetes platform to support service isolation at Redfin. You’ll help drive the next evolution of the platform where all Redfin services are coalescing.You will drive discussions of how best to isolate our applications in a scalable, secure and robust architecture.You will aim to automate everything, nothing is handcrafted, infrastructure as code is your natureYou will identify trends happening elsewhere in the industry and investigate how to apply them to the team or Redfin as a wholeYou will support team efficiency improvement, mentor teammates to strengthen individual skills and share your learningsYou will help drive our mission to radically change the way people make one of the biggest decisions of their lives.About YouYou have 5 years of experience in Software or Systems DevelopmentYou have expertise in analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.You have the ability to lead complex technical discussions with a variety of audiences, including Software and Systems Engineers.You have 2 years experience running Kubernetes clusters in large-scale production environmentsYou have 2 Years experience with cloud providers (AWS, GCP, or Azure)You have experience with CloudFormation or TerraformYou have expert level  development skills in at least one language (e.g. Python, Java)You are a thought leader able to identify solutions to difficult problems and lead these solutions to implementationYou are a natural mentor who can coach and guide more junior members of the teamYou have the ability to consult with other teams on system design and capacity planningYou have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent work experienceYou are able to work in an on-call rotation supporting both Kubernetes and other Redfin infrastructure.  On-call expectation will be one week every 4-5 weeks.Additional Preferred QualificationsKubernetes Service Mesh experienceNetworking knowledge in distributed systems for on-prem and cloudExperience in web application, network, or operating system securityWhat We OfferCompetitive compensation packages with a salary, bonuses, and restricted stock grants.Generous benefits, including paid vacation, medical, dental, and vision insurance, and fully paid family leave. A high-growth company, providing opportunities for continued professional development and growthTo make sure we hire the most qualified people, we’ve designed a multi-step selection process that may include interviews, a homework assignment, and a reference check. Actual base pay will depend on varying circumstances, including the position, location, individual qualifications, market finances, and other operational business needs.
